Saturday 26th July 2014

So yesterday I was going to Rugby 7s at Ibrox at #glasgow2014, so I started with getting my gear on

So got 7.30am bus to Glasgow, getting near central train station and saw Bobby Horton, our president. My bus was quiet but train was standing room only.

Went down to Merchant City but nothing was on yet, so I headed up and got to George Square, where I took this picture.

So I headed round to Nelson Mandella place after passing big q's to get on subway at queen street. I headed up to Buchanan bus station to get shuttle bus and signs outside main entrance said go outside building, but then the signs stop. I went under tunnel and I wasn't the only one like, where are we going. I went back across to bus station by crossing road (thankfully road was quiet) and got directed to normal place at end of bus station. Got on bus and we were away fairly quickly. Got to Ibrox shuttle bus stop and we got moved by staff and clydesiders to Ibrox, coming out subway was busy. So after emptying pockets got through security and headed to Copeland Road stand. Found my seat and got sausage baguette and irn bru (£5.50), that took about 10 minutes. Went to my seat.

The proposal on pitch was great. Des Clarke was a good host. Now Scotland were on 1.56pm, plenty of games before it. Scotland nearly did it only getting beat 17-14

That's when we score in a try. So after this I saw a few people leaving, but not many when ibrox was quite full, so I headed out.

There was about 6 buses to take people back and barriers were being put up to direct passengers. It was about 5 minutes standing about until we got on a bus.

Headed over back to bus station, then I went for a walk back to Merchant City. I went into revolution, that was a bit wierd. I went along Buchanan street, it was great, busy. I've never seen it as busy, it was starting to small shower and I headed over to Central train station. There was an Auchinleck train at 16:12, so got ticket and headed for some food. I got train fairly quickly with a seat, it was 4 carriages.

Got back to Auchinleck just after 5.00pm and got lift home, it was raining now.

I got home and watched more sport. Rugby 7s was on bbc3 and there is about 30 second delay on I player on iPad, so I could cap it, so I did these in Scotland's 2nd game.

Scotland won against Barbados easily so I wanted to see final game around 9.00pm. I was too nervous to cap this (I was shouting at telly) and Scotland beat Canada.

So after that I went out. Today I am watching quarter final at 1.12 then going to head back to Glasgow.

Bye for now.

imagebam.com imagebam.com Well a late night blog from me. Tuesdays lunch was good. I had muscles, I dont know why, but I did. Next I had a minute steak with fries. It was good as well. The coca cola is still £2.10 per bottle. I almost feel like buying a pint of beer, but I dont. Then I went back to Ayr and bought some Xmas presents and headed back on 5pm bus from Ayr to Cumnock via Drongan. As you may see up the top it is Stuart Walker funeral in Cumnock Thursday 11.30am and so we were talking about that. Thats the bus some of us met Stuart. I headed straight to Cumnock Rugby Club as I wasnt getting one bus 5.40 and getting another one 6.20. I just went straight there. After training and club stuff I went to quiz and was RUBBISH at play your cards right. I got 3 goes and never got past first line. It wasnt my day. I also saw someone win money from a amusement machine afetr someone told me not to play it (it wasnt a small amount). I also saw during the day that the heineken Cup was going to be in Glasgow Wednesday. So at 9.50am I went to Glasgow on bus. Went along to Greaves Sports in Gordon Street and held the Heineken Cup for a few seconds. Greaves took a photo (but they havent put it on facebook yet). I took a photo with my photo, which is above. I then went and bought more xmas presents while in Glasgow and headed back home for 2pm. Wednesday was turning out to be a good day after Tuesday not really being. I then watched some telly, got some new tunes from Spotify and headed down to Cumnock at 9pm. Double checked time tomorrow and then went and got a pint, the amusement machine won for me tonight. I am definately happy tonight. So that is about it. See you all soon.

Well, the trip to Sally's

Well after my last blog, nobody answered where I should go. We decided to go to Glasgow. After a quick trip to Hamleys for Richard, Sally to get stuff for Xander we got the stuff away and went to Captain America. It was 5/10. I cant say there was much wrong with it, but it wasn't great. Its only average. Someone else paid for it, but I wouldn't have went if I was paying for it myself. We then came back from Glasgow and got back around 7pm.

On Sunday I had a lie in, getting up around 10am. I went for a walk in the morning, just to chill with myself (remember I stay myself at home). I did just about chill out until my mum phoned me saying the birthday boy was up and everyone was getting ready, only problem was I was still chilling so I took my time to come back to sisters. I arrived after 1pm and the aforementioned nephew had went back to sleep, so there wasnt much happening.

One of the other problems I have there is "even google" wouldn't work outdoors. I wasnt pleased. As most of you know I use O2 and according to its Network coverage checker all the services should work (they dont).

Atleast I heard some good tunes from Kingdom FM on my walk.

So we had a good party after Xander got a chance to wake up. As usual I didn't go on the bouncy castle.

I got up after 730 this morning and got home about 1230. The water not working hasn't affected me as far as I can see. Tonight I have a meeting at Cumnock RFC for a mini midi committee meeting. Since I got home I have watched WWE Smackdown.

I hope you all have a good week.

The past weekend

On Friday i headed to my sisters in Fife. I left at 10.45 from Auchinleck. Got phone ring at 12.05 and I can see Buchanan Bus Station bus next bus leaves 12.10. I was in the bus area when the bus pulled away because we were stuck behind a Glasgow airport express bus waiting to go into its stance.

So that meant I had to get 1230 bus to Glenrothes. Get info that next bus to Leven from Glenrothes is 1415 and my bus is due in 1410. Then you hit Cumbernauld 10 mile of roadworks. Get to Dunfermline bus station 1339 but bus doesnt go in stance for 2 minutes. It only took 2 minutes to get those passengers in. Leave 3 minutes late. Then arrive at Glenrothes 1414, move towards next stance, BUS REVERSES! I was 10 metres away. Then get 1432 to Leven Bus Station, get there 1455, so after changing my route I save 32 minutes! I get to sisters (via a car) and have good lasange 8/10 and stay in house for rest of night.

Next day sis has hairdressers. She does that and comes back 10am, I head into Leven and chill out myself and head back at midday.

At 1pm we head by car to Glasgow (wasn't I there Friday). We go round a few shops (not for me, my nephew is there as well in buggy).

We head to Jamie Olivers restaurant

I have the tagliatelli, The STAFF were briliant, especially with my nephew. They look VERY WELL TRAINED. The food was good for the price I was paying. I aint sure if I had the £6.50 or £10 version (I paid a certain amount for my meal and stuff) The food was perfect temperature but I didn't get a lot of flavours. I got more flavours in lasagne the day before.

This is what I put on twitter Saturday night:-
9/10 good value just wasnt perfect. staff 10/10 good training, main meal 7/10 sweet 9/10.

I still agree with that.

During this the rain was LASHING down outside. I am glad we were inside then. It had dried out nearly when we left after 5pm. The other thing about Glasgow that day it was very busy. It was the day before Fathers Day though.

A few more shops happenned and we left Buchanan Galleries

It was 610 we left there, headed along M8 to forth road bridge and up the usual roads to leven. We got back to base at 7.40pm.

Watched the telly for rest of night (not pre-school television which I had heard about 7 hours that day). I also went on computer that night. I went to bed my usual time and had lie-in.

On Sunday we didnt do much that morning. at around 2pm we headed to Dunfermline. It took 20 minutes by car. We went to Odeon cinema and saw Green Lantern. It was ok for a dc comics franchise. I am expecting more episodes though. The graphics have even moved on since The Matrix in how it is clean.

That was done and wrapped by 525. I just watched telly that night.

Today I got to leven Bus Station 830 for 845 bus. It was a 50ish seater. I think around 80/90 people used this bus. It took about 70 minutes to get to Dunfermline today via Kirkcaldy and was there around 10am. Got to Kincardine bridge around 1030. Thinking it was suppose to get in Glasgow 11am (its 30 miles away roughly), dont think so. We go through roadworks on M80 (I hate them now). See bus home just departing (AGAIN) on time at 11.15 and I get in my stance 11.16am, grrr. Check times and see Train from Glasgow central to Auchinleck 1212 and home about 1310 (yeah), get some lunch and get train home. It only stopped at Stewarton and Kilmarnock before Auchinleck. Ace, not the multiple times my buses this morning stopped at every village in fife this morning. X buses in fife and only expresses when NOT IN FIFE!

Thats the rant over. You all have a good week. Tomorrow I am going to Ayr. No more Fife for 6 weeks. During typing this I have had Lady Gaga on (not Timmy Time!)

This week so far

Health is ok the now, still feel fine.

On Tuesday I was down at rugby club watching new tills come in. It lasted for a while but we got there. My team got me there and I got home in time for dinner. Went to quiz Tuesday night and we were 2nd or 3rd. I got bus home with 1 minute to spare.

Wednesday I caught up with some telly. Saw Stuart (a regular reader of this) and did wwe stuff.
I went back home and watched even more telly until 7pm where I headed for Club. It was quiz night and our team won again. Watching Batman movies may not be great, but you know who the pengiun is.

Thursday morning I was at EACH for 915. Got my bloods done and got a physio assessment. There is a class in afternoon that I can goto to see how I actually am physically. One of the physios I already knew from time in hospital.

Thursday afternoon I headed to Glasgow and Braehead. As some of you know me and Ian are going to WWE Smackdown, but I had never been to Braehead arena, but I know now how to get in.

I headed back to Glasgow on the bus and got lunch. Trouble was when I was at lunch this place had wifi but I couldn't use twitter, grrr.

At 7pm Tron Legacy was being shown at Glasgow Science Centre IMAX. As you guys may have known I had a free voucher to see 23 minute preview which opens fully on my birthday. When we went to seats we were told it was a sell out. I think what happenned was all the vouchers were taken but not everyone came because there was seats left. Now this is my first 3d movie and as you know I wear specs. When text came on the screen I know I had to put my normal glasses on and the IMAX 3d specs fit infront of normal glasses.

The film looks amazing (I opened my mouth at 3d graphics and the prespective (wow!)). Some of it is in 2d but you still keep glasses on. The screen is HUGE. The staff in Glasgow Science Centre are really helpful, bubbly (even the projectionist) who was getting people watching the film to talk on camera. I had said no to it. I dont tend to do cameras. I promised at the end I would do a blog on it, so here it is.

I headed back to Glasgow and got 9pm bus to Kilmarnock then headed for train station as I discovered there was a 9.51pm train to Auchinleck which gave me 10 minutes to get from Bus Station to Train Station. Did that easily.

Right I am going to do my twitter #followfridays next:-

I use followfriday for people who actually interact with me (with only a few exceptions) so if you want on this list, interact with me (that excludes spammers)!

Tomorrow, Butlins reunion at Rabbies Bar Ayr in afternoon, better not drink too much Irn Bru. Next Cumnock RFC Halloween Party and Charity Halloween Party at Royal.

Sunday just quite day down at rugby.

You all have a great Friday.

My weekend just happenned

Hello, well as we all know I planned to visit Sally and family in Fife on Saturday, Sunday and come home Monday. So 9.45am I headed on bus to Glasgow. I got a quick connection and arrived at Leven at 1.30pm. I know because my mum phoned me when I got there.

Me and Sally went to Kirkcaldy and did some fashion shopping. As I was doing the picking it took 15 minutes (I know what I like). Foursquare decided I couldn't load where I was but facebook could. My nephew David liked that straight away. The hairdressers we went to for Sally's hair to get done was very professional.

We went back to Leven for tea and I relaxed for the rest of the evening. Watched bits of Strictly Come Dancing and even some X Factor before I turned it off and watched Casualty.

So Sunday morning I relaxed, watched Vettel win. In afternoon had small lunch then we headed out. Went to Kirkcaldy for garden stuff, where this happened:

As part of the tour we went to Anstruther as well. The cannon there is very loud. Main problem for me in there was severe lack of mobile coverage apart from near Ship Tavern (I think). It even had public wifi I could pickup on.

I took a number of pictures as well which is at the top of this blog.

We headed out of the busy Anstruther and ate the food at Pittenweem. My fish supper was amazing. Great fresh fish.

Then we headed back to Leven where my brother David and fionce Terri came and visited. I just relaxed the rest of the night before I headed home today. It was cloudy in Fife but road down from Glasgow was very sunny.

I even recorded a audioboo in Glasgow

Listen!

New Media Breakfast #nmb , Glasgow Friday 24/9/10

Well I went to the #nmb this morning. I got up at 5.20am, got ready and headed on train at 6.30 (5 minutes from my house).

Got round to Royal Exchange Square easily but couldn't find 29 for a minute, it was my first time at the #nmb. I got up into main area and was pleased to see Kyle (after months of listening to social media podcast).

I got my fizz and bacon roll (which were really nice) and set my #iphone 3gs on #nmb as search (which helped later). Next Gordon started the event. As people will discover I do moderate comments on my own blog and check comments on forums and facebook which the rugby club has. I even typed into the #nmb search (and yes I am trying to change my twitter picture, #iphone pic is too large to upload (atleast on normal settings).

I understand that unmoderated clause legally I probably wouldn't have. I also wish my members would interact with me more on twitter, but facebook seems to be better for our message.

Video will become bigger, yes. I wondered on twitter, will the newtwitter help it get even more users?

Glasgowdotcom give free advertising to charities, that was good to hear for organisations in Glasgow. I enjoyed the people around the table with me (you might spot us in 1 of kyles photo)

It was a good event and got my things done in Glasgow after it.

Now I have a birthday present to deliver.

Hello

NCIS: Los Angeles title cardImage via Wikipedia

How are we all out there.

The health I am feeling better, a lot more energy to use.

Technology devices:-

Sky is great fun, I worked out not to try and watch 3 channels on sky as it cancels a recording. This means I sky+ a few things like the Stargate and Startrek franchises, rugby, football, NCIS: Los Angeles and music. It definately means I don't watch Jeremy Kyle Show.

I am definately getting used to #Iphone 3gs. Some of the apps are good and some aint. Dragon does not understand me (or it just doesn't understand west of scotland). I got told about rugby scorer app and the timer doesn't work. I also had to unlink foursquare to facebook. My o2 signal has been rubbish at home lately. The wifi is fine at home but currently my phone has no signal. The other main issue is battery power. I did buy an extra battery off ebay so that makes it easier.Good apps include the sky related ones, nextbuses which is useful when you have a bus pass. The mapping is really good as well.

My music gallery (which I need as radio station apps need wifi (which isnt largely publically used down here) has Usher, Foo Fighters, Katy Perry, Emma's Imagination, Eminem, Jon Allen and a few others.

I also use the phone for podcasts ofcourse. I listen to Chris Moyles, Social Media Podcast, the Thumbcast (thanks for getting me to watch Metropolis) and I am listening to quiet News day while I type this.

I have finally decided to go to tomorrows New Media Breakfast in Glasgow tomorrow. I have thought about going to this for a while. I have listened to just about all the podcasts. I will finally see some of the guys I listen to all the time.

As Cumnock RFC webmaster I use twitter, email, facebook, audioboo and club website via pitchero to communicate our message. I do have this little blog as well for me. I used to use it more with pictures but Iphone doesn't use blogger. I do have lots of time as I don't work due to health issues.

So this morning I had 3 health people to see, that's done now, tomorrow is Glasgow and a train at 6.30am tomorrow morning. Saturday I have bbq at woodroad park in Cumnock and Sunday Cumnock RFC with lots of games.

Tuesday 13 October

Good evening folks, well the Internet connection is working (at least the now, but very slowly).

Work on Friday - Saturday and Sunday wasn't busy.

Going down to the rugby club on Saturday night for the 2nd team report wasn't that much fun, really it wasn't. Hopefully I will enjoy 16th January more.

This past weekend many of the backshift crew in Essentials have not felt well. On the Sunday morning Leonie was onto 3pm and during the morning somebody else phoned in being sick. It meant there was only 2 on backshift. I agreed to working to 9pm and I waited 50 minutes for a bus off park. I thought the bus from Ayr to Auchinleck was at 10.20, but it was Sunday, so it was 10.40. I got home at 11.15pm (I had left at 8.20am (my feet were sore).

I did start at 2pm yesterday and it was busier and today was hectic at work.

I am now starting to think about the gig at King Tuts WaWa Hut in Glasgow next Wednesday. I have added Jon Allen Music, their fan group and aforementioned place to my myspace friends.

On other stuff the death of Stephen Gateley was very surprising. He was younger than me. It is a real shame when that can happen when people have so much to give.
I am glad Louis Walsh didn't do X factor sunday night. Well played to that man.

I still watch Chuck on Virgin 1, it was good tonight with Scott Backula (enterprise, quantum leap) being Orion and Chucks dad.

On CNN International we had Backstory with Karl doing almost the full programme on Columbia. It was amazing how he saw the dealers cutting the coccaine and other drugs and then the dealers of course smoking this stuff. It was great viewing. It was REALLY good investigative journalism.

I am working tomorrow and off Thursday so I can see my doc again.

See you all around.

Social Media Podcast Edition 9

I didn't get to the newmediabrekkie in Glasgow and after reading a couple of blogs and twitter posts on #nmb because I was working that morning. I was interested to listen to the latest Social Media Podcast which would hopefully cover what happened from the podcastmatters team.

During the event I get tweet Craig McGill who told me what was happening and that he is not the target market, that got me thinking that I thought he would be. After reading Iain M Hepburn and Craigs blogs

So firstly listen to the social media podcast which is on itunes They are advertising it at the top of the social media podcast page (scroll down to find feed and the rss feeds)(it's edition 9).

I was glad to hear Gordon explaining what he meant by newspapers (as in the physical paper (not online)).

A thank you as well to Gordon for retweeting me saying I had listened to the last podcast.

I am basically still interested as it does help if you are focused when you are interacting with social media.

For my lonely rugby club I do twitter (along with everything else I tweet on), proboards, blogs and now facebook fan page and it does take up my time updating them all and I feel it is getting too large for me (I am not alone). I have had some news I should have a webhost for the original website, which would let me remove proboard and focus it even more. I would keep my blog as I can feed the blog entries into the facebook page (within about an hour). The facebook page is already more popular than the amount of members on the proboard after only 1 week (and my viewing figures on the blog are not down).

Any advice guys.

What a day today.

Well what a few days, on Monday I thought I could have done my rota from tomorrow. I was wrong.
My A team are still in tact thank god.
Now after yesterdays news I have to do backshift (supervisor) in Essentials once a week along with trying to give holidays out, the idea is though it is suppose to be very quiet. It doesnt feel like that in the past two days. Tuesday was ok as I did the till on Tuesday night in Essentials and got last bus at 8.15pm. Next Monday I am 2pm - 10pm followed by 9am Tuesday morning, I think I am going to be tired. Oh yeah and a head office visit tuesday as well.

I digress, this morning me and ann worked till and didn't stop and could only put Cameron on till when it went quiet around 11.30am, I went for lunch at 1pm and tried to work on rota (I went back down 2pm).

I firstly had to see what day somebody wanted off, it's Monday, so I had me doing a 9am - 10pm shift apart from the problem of 4-5pm where there was no supervisor in essentials. It didn't work.
I got the staff sorted in Treasures and checked it was ok, it was, thankyou ANN. I could be busy Tuesday morning as well before I open. Then got the fixed days done. I tried to do it in Essentials but it was Ann helps we could sort it. It was doing my head in. Then went right I am off Thursday and that sorted it and I could finish the rota. I made the decision and it worked. End of the day was suppose to be quiet, but it wasn't. I have somebody working until 3pm and then only 2 of us and if we don't get cleaning done before closing time, I do cleaning after doors close (unpaid).

Good news, I have my dayshift for next Friday so Oneills in Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow. I am coming and my rockaoke tune has been tested and works.

Train to glasgow and Harry Potter.

Left auchinleck and paid ticket. 130 glasgow.

Well after this I havent been able to add via my mobile. Signal seems to be non existant in Glasgow almost. I am in an internet cafe at the moment.

I went and saw Harry Potter and the half blood prince. It wasnt good.I was expecting some big fights, it didn't happen. Biggest thing was Harry, Hermoine and Ron and other girls. Not good.

Then I went to find Oneills in Sauchilhall street, its 15 minutes walk from Glasgow Central Train Station after Glasgow dental school. I found it, look out next Friday.

Now I am waiting for next train to Auchinleck which is 8pm.

Alsothis morning before I lefthome I am trying to promote a #ayrshiremafia on twitter. If you are Ayrshire, join us.

Thanks to Craig McGill for almost daring us to do more when he didn't appear in top 50 scottish twitter users.
