Cumnock RFC Season 2012/2013 1st XV West 4 Champions, by the Webmaster
So you lot know I am rugby man, right (and yes I know I said I wouldn't talk much about rugby, but its been quiet inspiring lately).
Well Thursday I got asked you want to goto Glasgow Warriors game Friday night, I jumped at the chance. There was also a bus going.
So we went and saw Glasgow Warriors playing Ospreys and winning and making sure of a play off spot.
We however got back at 11.30pm after our players got autographs from the Glasgow players. I hope Duncan Weir is getting better after the injury.
I watched Smackdown when I got home after sorting out stuff for Saturday, to save me time the next day.
So Saturday all we needed to be champions was get 4 tries or if they couldn't do that get a losing bonus point. Question I got in club was did I print out directions. We were getting a bus and I said I hadn't (we still had to ask for directions in Kilmacolm).
We got to changing room. I later got ready for game and I got there for 2.45 kick off (I forgot to warm some of the support).
We scored 2 tries in 15 minutes as reported on Cumnock RFC twitter. I am glad to say it has more followers than me now. I changed a few weeks ago to get someone to tweet live scores every 1st team game to make it different to facebook. We got already 30 more followers. Facebook just gets the result. It took a while 68 minutes to get 4 tries. But then the new hashtag #champions2013 came out on twitter. We ran in a few more tries.
See the match report here. Mr @davidtkerr is the best writer we had ever had and does work on Cumnock Chronicle. Unfortunately Scottish coal being liquidated and making lots of people including some in rugby club redundant in this area on Friday night will keep him busier than rugby.
Then Bill McMurtrie presented Campbell Reid with the trophy and then the boys got it.
We went and got our food, had a visit to pub in Fenwick and headed back to club for 830pm. When we got back to club I got my video off dropbox and put it on usb drive and put it on television on bar, a 14 second loop and the boys just wanted to keep it playing. I left after a few pints.
So Sunday I still had rugby that morning. We had Under 15 travelling at 830am in a bowl final, unfortunately the team got beat by a point.
Our minis were playing and our team won, check the Primary 5 report.
After the U15 came back I got told however the U16 Cougars had won Glasgow Division 2, which is a Cumnock/Kilmarnock composite. Now on Saturday I was very happy because 1st XV and a bit sad because U15 had lost narrowly but U16 winning titles and making Cumnock RFC #doublechampions makes me proud.
I know, I know all the coaches and loads of the players and parents being the webmaster but I can honestly say (with a tear in my eye the now) that this is the proudest I have felt in the years at Cumnock Rugby Club (and I have been there since 1995). I joined the main committee in August 2008 and in June 2009 because of the websites I developed became webmaster for the whole club (including a webmaster report I do to Youth Committee and so serve there) so we would join in more together, not just seniors and youth just doing there own thing. Now parents of the youth section are fully fleged members of whole club, we have a massive Ladies Day on Saturday which will demonstrate that. This was an objective of mine and a few others, On Friday the Cumnock and Auchinleck Academies U16 play Largs Academy at Millbrae on Friday and this could be the third trophy associated with players of Cumnock Rugby Club. Even when I was ill in 2010, I still somehow kept in touch with them. So last night after the club stuff had finished I saw a band and "sung" star trekin and its chico time (except it's Tommy's time in my version).
It was this morning I did all the reports I was sent Sunday and Monday morning and without all of them the website wouldn't be what it is now. I hope you understand me a bit better now.
Thanks
Tommy Cunningham
